Rae Leigh has been a registered song writing member with APRA AMCOS since 2010. She attended the Winter Song writing retreat at the DAG Sheep Station in 2015 & 2019. She also attended the SongTown retreat in Nashville in October 2019.

Rae Leigh love’s collaborating with passionate songwriters. She also interviews, supports and promotes songwriters on her podcast Songwriter Trysts.


Black Rose

CO-write with Australian HipHop Duo Skoobz & ID

in 2019 Rae Leigh met Adelaide based hip hop artists Skoobz & ID at an open mic on the Gold Coast. They talked about doing a song together and this was the results. Recorded vocals in Rae’s home studio and sent the vocals and lyrics to the duo to finish and mix and master to be released under the Skoobz & ID artists name feat. Rae Leigh on the 6th of July 2023.

Push Em Up Jill

co- write Angus Gill and Bill Whyte

‘Push Em Up Jill’ is a song by Rae Leigh co-written with Angus Gill and Bill Whyte from Nashville. They met through the podcast Songwriter Trysts and ran with an idea formed by Rae when she met Jill at a country music festival in 2020. During Covid the co-write happened online and released in February 2022 making a top 10 Country Hit in Australia on the Country Radio national charts.

 

Powered by Love

co- write Shane nicolson

‘Powered by love’ is a song by Rae Leigh co-write with Shane Nicolson at the 2019 July DAG Singer Songwriter retreat. It’s about loving one another and that material things are fleeting and that the world gives and takes away but that at the end of the day all we have is the love we give to each other in every moment we capture. This song is under production and set to be released in 2020.

All I Can Do

Co-Write Pete (Smokie) Dawson

At the 2015 Singer Song writer DAG Retreat in Nundle, Tamworth NSW, Rae Leigh and Peter Dawson (AKA SMOKIE) sat around the fire in the bar and wrote this song as they discussed challenges life had thrown at them and realised that music was a powerful tool to help push through those painful life experiences. This was the very first time Rae Leigh performed an original song and played guitar at the DAG performing this song with Smokie. ‘All I Can Do’ was released on the 2nd of January 2020.

Sleepless Nights

Co-write Allan Caswell

In 2015 at the DAG singer songwriter retreat in Nundle, Tamworth, Rae Leigh co-wrote and performed a new original song with Allan Caswell. Rae Leigh was a un official guest at this retreat and so was not allocated time to write with any of the tutors but Alan went out of his way during free time to write with Rae. The song tells the story of holidaying on glassy beaches and drinking with her loved one. This song is currently being produced and planned for release in 2020.

Dancing on the moon

Co-write eric Dodd, Les hauge

In 2019 at the SongTown songwriter retreat in Nashville, Rae Leigh co-wrote a new song with Eric Dodd and Les Hauge called ‘Dancing On The Moon’ which was written as a duet love song. Production for this song is in progress and release date for later in 2020.

I Don’t Wanna Be Sober

Co-write Chuck TownZ, Michael Smanz

2019 Nashville SongTown songwriting retreat Rae Leigh met with two people who collaborated on this song which was completed via Skype after the retreat. It’s a fun song about love and connection and the feeling that love can be just as addictive as a drug.

2019 Nashville SongTown songwriting retreat Rae Leigh met with Jason Duke and Murray Rodgers in a songwriting session and wrote this song which tells the story of mates who meet at a bar to have a drink and remember their friend who had passed.

2019 Nashville SongTown songwriting retreat Rae Leigh co-wrote with Robert Arthur and Doug Jackson, they wrote a song from the female perspective telling a person about a personality trait that they needed to know but was not going to find online or a regular media outlet.

 

We Light Each Other Up

In 2021 Co-writing online became a much more wider practice and these SongTown members helped write a beautiful love song about two very much in love people who can’t help but show off their chemistry and love for one another. Idea sparked by Bill in a Zoom Co-write with Rae Leigh and Lucy Leblanc.

Angels & Demons

Co-write Cameron McLeod

in 2021 Rae Leigh started hosting private in home songwriting events with other passionate local songwriters. Cameron and her are good friends who met through the Gold Coast open mic scene and started supporting each other and writing together. This song is a powerful song about a couple that don’t seem to have completely open communication and the story unfolds during the song with a few twists but eludes to the positives (Angels) and negatives (Demons) of a relationship.
